Welcome! If you’re here, I’ve sent you a pitch for my novel, Dirty Water.
Dirty Water is set in Boston’s underground music scene in 1996. The playlist below follows the order that bands and songs are mentioned in the book. I’ve also included photos to give a feel of what that time period was like.
I wanted to write a novel that revisited the passionate, analog world and subcultures of the mid-90s, offering a journey into a colorful era for anyone curious about that time, and an entertaining dose of nostalgia for the Gen X’ers who were there.
Dirty Water is a character-driven, multi-POV novel and the first book in a planned trilogy. It follows three main characters: Theo, a college freshman; Ellie, a sophomore and aspiring music journalist; and Conor, a drummer from Southie, as their stories weave through Boston’s legendary venues like The Rat and the Middle East. At its core, Dirty Water is a story about fighting your way through grief and darkness, finding your people, and falling in love.
